      Why would I choose to do a nationally accredited first aid course?

      An accredited first aid and CPR course is a nationally recognised certification that meets established industry standards. The Vocational Education and Training (VET) accredited courses have been assessed by the national regulator, ASQA, as compliant with the Standards for VET Accredited Courses 2012 and the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). 

      According to ASQA, an accreditation is a formal confirmation that the course:

      • is nationally recognised and meets quality assurance requirements
      • meets an established industry, enterprise, educational, legislative or community need
      • provides appropriate competency outcomes and a satisfactory basis for assessment
      • is aligned appropriately to the AQF where it leads to a VET qualification. 
      • Each VET accredited course receives a national code and appears on the national register, training.gov.au.

      How do I know my first aid training course is accredited?

      There are a few indicators of a nationally accredited first aid training course.

      1. The course includes an accredited course code in the course name, for example, HLTAID011 - Provide first aid
      2. The Nationally Recognised Training Logo is displayed on the course page and on the first aid certificate you receive. 
      3. If in doubt, you can always cross-check the course on training.gov.au to ensure it is an accredited course recognised by the industry and governing bodies.

      Why would I choose to do a nationally accredited first aid course?

      Nationally accredited courses have been authorised by national medical and technical advisory committees, and the course content is regularly revised to ensure it meets both Australian and international standards. Upon completion of a nationally accredited course with St John WA, you will gain an official Certificate of Attendance and a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

      Many workplaces and organisations that require an employee to be certified in first aid training will require the participant to complete an accredited first aid course.
